Heads and Tales is a family business based in Canberra with two busy mums as the driving force behind it. Our focus for Heads and Tales is to create unique and perfect cards and gifts for those people who are special to you.

We create all of our cards and cupcake toppers ourselves and our designs are based on fantasy ideas or what we think would make a great topper or card! If you want a personalised touch, send us a photo of the person you are buying for and we will add their face to our designs. We have also chosen our favourite items so that you can have your personalised image applied to more than just cards or toppers.

Our vintage partywares and gifts are chosen... because we like them! That keeps it simple. We love retro items or styles and this is a big influence in our choices - plus something a bit different, we love quirky!

Our blankets, headbands, bags, toys, craft kits, aprons and capes are all handmade. These are all part of our exclusive so.am.me range. All our items have been tested on the fussiest of customers – our own kids! We make our products in a smoke and pet free home and use quality fabrics that we mostly import. We love to use recycled fabric, like pre-loved jeans, but we always wash it before we start using it (!) We love the creativity that recycling old materials brings out in us and our products will be identified as recycled if they contain recycled materials. All our soft toys are filled with eco fill, made from recycled water bottles. We use this filling to do our bit for the environment and because it is hypo allergenic. 

If you want a really special and unique gift, our custom oil paintings and portraits are perfect. We use non toxic oils on quality oil sketch paper. They are a wonderful way to remember special people, kids at a gorgeous age or events.

Michelle’s passion for creating images with fantasy based scenes, a touch of humour and loved one’s faces has led to fantastic cards, wonderful cupcake toppers and personalised products. It's probably moved on from the days of the old camera here but the creativity required is no different. Imagine your little one handing out their own birthday party invitations showing them doing something incredible like floating over the top of Prague holding a bunch of balloons or riding on the top of a giant lollipop alongside their pet monkey! Or having their own special cupcake toppers made just for them. The pride and excitement is certainly worth seeing. Michelle is an interior designer, visual merchandiser, graphic designer and has loads of retail experience.

Carol’s passion is for anything handmade and that harks back to the ‘good old days’ and childhood memories of when fun was simple. Think of helping mum make biscuits and pikelets wearing your favourite frilly apron, or playing dress ups with sparkly headbands, or seeing your little brother flying around with a tea towel cape tied around his neck.  She loves creating gorgeous blankets, toys and headbands and knows when she is onto a winner based on whether her own kids love it. Her favourite pastime is 'hanging out' in op shops and searching for the perfect pair of jeans to transform into a cool RJ bag (recycled jeans) or something that sparks an idea. She has an exclusive label – so.am.me for your little princess and the little man in your life who are who they are, no matter what anyone says! Her latest passion is drawing and painting and so the custom oil paintings service has begun. Carol is an accountant who has recently taken a career change to focus on Heads and Tales and make the most of her creative juices.
